The idea of a community house for elderly people has developed during the field trip, after interviews with local people of Iznik. The need for accommodation for the old-age was the problem the was encountered.
During the design process, the building formed up as not only a solution for the urgent need of sheltering but also a social gathering place that allows youth, children and elderly - a variety of age groups - can spend time together.
Following the strict Earthquake regulations of Iznik, the project forms a low-rise hub in respect to modern design principles of ACCESSIBILITY - SUSTAINABILITY, and historical context of Iznik. The aim is to create an atmosphere that invites locals to gather, rest and live.
